“Product of My Environment”
Fine-Art
In his 2023 series, Kalief Dinkins delves into the irony surrounding the phrase "a product of my environment." Traditionally, this expression carries a negative connotation, implying that one's surroundings have a detrimental impact on their life. However, I challenge this perspective by showcasing the positive aspects of being shaped by our environments. I demonstrate that our backgrounds make us unique individuals and equip us with essential skills, ranging from creativity to survival.
My art celebrates the pride of being a product of our environments and acknowledges the significant influence of those we encounter in our lives. Through the ups and downs of life's journey, I attribute my accomplishments to the nurturing and guidance I received from my surroundings. No matter the circumstances, we all bear the imprint of our environments, even if we might initially view it negatively. To truly understand this, it is crucial to introspect and recognize the profound impact of our surroundings on who we are today.
